The firm is a small, women owned, minority enterprise in Virginia.
In addition to past experience in construction, our key managers consist of LEED Accredited Professionals, Professional Engineers and Certified Construction Managers. The firm provides cradle to grave services including feasibility analyses through solicitation and management of the design/construct team through project close-down and implementation.
Company History
KCM was founded in 1997 with the purpose of helping non-profits manage their design and construction programs. KCM principal, Mr. Kalriess saw that many institutions did not have experience dealing with the complex world of contracting, subcontracting, zoning, inspecting, and permitting. He saw a need for a company that would guide these “one time builders” through this world fairly and honestly. Since then, KCM has provided preconstruction, estimating, construction management, and contracting services to faith based institutions, non-profits, commercial entities and large national developers.
KCM now regularly works on education, government, performing arts, and commercial projects. KCM manages projects that range in cost from a few hundred thousand to over $200 million.
Construction litigation and conceptual estimating are highly specialized fields and require individuals with many years experience in construction and estimating. Over the years, KCM has downsized its estimating functions to focus on claims and conceptual estimating (requiring the best talent). Mr. Kalriess, the executive vice president, performs all estimating functions of the firm and has over thirty years of experience.
KCM has provided preconstruction and planning services on numerous sustainable projects and continues to devise cost effective solutions to implementing sustainable design and construction projects.
