Loudoun Country Day School – Leesburg
The Loudoun Country Day School project is a new private school campus located in Leesburg, Virginia on almost 70 acres. The project consists of a new 70,000 sf academic building, a separate 10,000 sf gymnasium, playing fields, tennis and basketball courts, and extensive site improvements. The new academic building will house pre-school through 8th grade students. The campus is designed to eventually house a high school building, field house, and numerous playing fields in the future. The buildings are structural steel with composite metal decking. The exterior skin includes stone veneer and fiber-cement siding, glass storefront, curtainwall and wood windows.
The academic building consists of over 35 classrooms including science and technology labs, a large multi-purpose room/performing arts stage, media center with an octagon “silo”, and administrative areas.
Challenges on this project included the need to reduce cost after Design Development had been completed, due to reductions in the Owner’s budget. KCM coordinated all design disciplines from civil/landscaping to MEP and Owner’s separate vendors. Sitework component of the project was extensive and was 25% of total project cost.
